One Fifth Avenue

"One Fifth Avenue, built in 1927, is the twenty-seven-story apartment by Helmle, Corbett, and Harrison in association with Sugarman and Berger. The structure is interesting for its cut corners and setback, a change from the rectangular massing of the period. An amusing attempt was made to simulate vertical piers by the use of 'shadow brick' (NYC Guide, pp. 135)."
